Thar he blows. Let’s listen.
I haven’t done anything musical in quite some time. So I tried pushing myself to do something for weeks, without success. I’m a really visual person, so I need to see something before my eyes to get a feeling for it. I just couldn’t find the right inspiration.
For the past two months or so I struggled with Moby Dick. It’s not that it is a bad book or anything, but I always need a long time to get a feeling for any book. By the time I get close to the end I usually regret that there are only so few pages left. Same with Moby Dick. Plus now I had an idea.
The last three chapters, the final struggle with the white whale, turned into sound. So I fired up my GarageBand and started my dark, amateurish work. Today I got to a point with the first three minutes, where I said “Okay, I need a break.“!
Here are the first three minutes, I hope there are six more to come soon. It is still work in progress. And you can clearly hear where the Apple Loops stop and my own work begins. Additionally, I found out that I have no feeling for how to do good transitions.
