E-Business: Almost there

Here’s the promised update.
The e-business-paper is done. Yesterday morning I had actually received the texts from Sebastian and Bijan. Funny story, their e-mails both had a ring to them, that the deadline of “Wednesday, midnight!” was sort of a surprise. It’s not that you can forget a lot in two weeks, but I had reminded them a couple of times in the meantime.
Well, so I got all those texts, sadly not proof-read by someone who knows ze Englishs. So I spent about five hours re-writing Bijans text. I mean, not that his English is bad, but about one third of his text was directly copied from the paper our course is based on and from e-mails I had gotten from the companies we talked to. Copied, not quoted. Oh, and also his arguments were sometimes…let’s say questionable.
Here’s a sample (summarized): The OmniGroup sell boxed versions of their products through offline stores. Stores need websites! Omni should demand that their affiliates have websites! Therefore Omni should only collaborate with stores that ship within 24 hours via UPS or FedEx.
I guess that makes sense. Somehow. You know, I like those mini-donuts from ASDA. ASDA is a huge chain. Stores need to sell products. Therefore the donuts should be red! Or else!!!
By the time I had produced 1500 new words (some of them entirely new! patent pending.) Frederik offered to proof-read Sebastian’s text. I was glad, since I had given up after reading Sebastian’s first paragraph. So I could take about half an hour off, waiting for Frederik to get done. And done he got…get…done…gotten…Schumpeter! I’m pretty sure the original text was even more of a train-wreck, but what I got back was still an insult to…everything. So, I wrote another 1500 words inspired by Sebastian’s findings, such as “3D-images are good because people can identify them with things they have held in their hand before, such as a lorry or a biro”. Sweet.
Oh, and here’s a link to a simply beautiful dialogue Frederik and Sebastian had while Freddy was reading Sebastian’s text. You know, just to push my tumblelog a bit.
After 11 hours I had pulled 3000 words of text for Bijan and Sebastian out of my ass, as well as a few lines for introduction and conclusion.
Hand-in in three hours. Life is beautiful.
